screenshots.debian.net on the web
I’m still amazed how quickly the word is spreading. Yet another proof that good products need little marketing.
Bear with me that I share a few articles I found on the net just a few days after going live:
- Debian project news
- digg
- Linux-Magazin (german)
- Tux Planet (french)
- OSzine (german)
- reddit (english)
- pro-linux (german)
- fsdaily (english)
- coffee.geek.nz (english)
- Debian Forums
- Linux Community (german)
- Ubuntu Observer (german)
- Gulli (german)
- Esdebian (spanish)
- Tuxargon (french)
- Linmagazin (israelian)
- Debian Linux (czech)
- fsdaily (english)
- root.cz (czech)
- opennet.ru (russian)
- elavdeveloper blog (spanish)
- blog.gnusquad.org (french)
- vivalinux argentina (spanish)
And Groklaw writes:
Browsing screenshots - Now you can look before you leap
[PJ: This is nice, screenshots and a brief description of Debian applications. That should help us know if we want to install them or not. It is something I've always wanted. We can help, too, by uploading screenshots. And you can decide if you want emacs22-nox or emacs22-gtk or vim or vim-gtk, and then when you see flame wars about emacs or vim, you'll at least know what they are talking about.] - screenshots.debian.net
Are you the creator of this site?
And thank you for the link

@Tuxargon:
Yes, I’m the one who is getting the generous sponsor of the server for screenshots.debian.net a serious headache about CPU load and internet traffic.

Is there a place to report bugs for this site yet? (e.g., b.d.o)
Anyway, Opera 9.62 for Linux doesn’t render the screenshots in the correct place. When clicking on a thumbnail, the image usually flies down way past the bottom of the window, so you have to scroll down to see it. Fine in iceweasel, of course.
I understand that this might not be priority, but it’d be nice to see fixed all the same!
Fantastic work, btw.

@markrian:
Honestly I intended to try things in Opera, too. But somehow I forgot to do that. I’ll talk to the author of the Flyout plugin if he can fix that.
There is not yet a bug tracker. But looking at the current interest in the project I’ll set up a Trac.
Thanks for the bug report.

@Sylvain:
Good idea. I have just created a ticket for that wish: http://debshots.workaround.org/trac/ticket/21
